Sel was first licensed in 2010 and upgraded to General class in 2012. At the time their focus was on emergency management and public safety, assisting with regional search & rescue agencies, and participating with local ARES/RACES groups. In 2018, they left emergency management and volunteer fire service due to fibromyalgia issues. Currently, they can be found participating in HF DX contests as a hobby.
